Day 9 of Back 2 School Blog hop- Barefoot Books review & giveaway ends 8-29

When I think about school I think about reading and books. I buy my kids lots of books through out the year. Part of their homework everyday is to read 30 minutes a day and I am a stickler on that. Over the summer they read as well. They get bored of the same old books and plus I don't want them to memorize the book and not read it just resight it that to me is cheating lol. So when I heard about Barefoot Books I had to see what all they had. I was surprised to see lots of fun, colorful, educational books for my kids. I loved that they had something for all ages as well.
I got 6 books for my kids and when they arrived you would have thought it was Christmas morning here. The kids were so excited to get new books. The first book I got was Ruby's School Walk. It is a cute book about a mother and daughter walking to school and the child's wild imagination turns the simple was into a far from ordinary walk with tigers, beast, crocodiles that makes getting to school a almost impossible task. The pictures are fun and colorful. It was a fun and perfect book for my 8 year old who still struggles a bit with reading. She was learning new words but they weren't difficult to sound out. She really enjoyed the book and ask to read it every day!
The next book I got from Barefoot Books was Cleo's counting book. This book was perfect for my 5 year old. She doesn't know how to read yet but she could figure out what it was with a small amount of help but really not much. It helped with her numbers and counting. It was fun and colorful. She loved counting all the things Cleo the cat passed by. Definitely a great preschool to kindergarten book.
The next book we got was African Animal ABC. This one my 11 year old loved reading to the younger ones. She loved learning the names of the African animals. Some of the words were a little challenging for her but she figured them out. The pictures were unique and fun. I don't know if the younger kids realized it was in Alphabetical order or not but still a fun animal book to them.
The next book we got was our personal favorite Knick Knack Paddy Whack. My 5 year old sings this song with my mom all the time so she knew most of the book with out even looking at the pages lol. We love to sing the book instead of reading it. Its a fun book! If you don't know the little rhyming song well your missing out. Its fun and silly and lots of fun to do hand movements to. The pictures are funny and silly and colorful. Definitely our favorite.
The next book we got from Barefoot Books was Zig Zag Zebra which is a activity book or like my kids call it a workbook. It helps develop your kids creativity with all kinds of fun activity's to help master drawing skills, shape recognition, fingerprinting, line drawing, color combining, and composition. There is fun activities like fill the whole pages with criss crosses or finish drawing the zebras stripes and much more. Definitely a fun book for my 4 and 5 year old. Even my 8 year old like doing them.
The last book we got was Playtime Rhymes for little people and it comes with a sing a long CD. This book is filled with little rhymes like incy wincy spider, hanky panky, this is the way the lady rides, five little ducks, and much more. We love singing along with the CD and doing the hand gestures with some of them as well. Its a great family fun time. We all sit and read this book together. We laugh, play, sing and dance. I love it and so do my kids. Definitely a must have for your kids book library.

Overall we were overly happy with our books and you bet Ill be returning to buy more from Barefoot Books. They have a awesome selection and lots of fun educational books. My kids will be getting some for Christmas and Easter and Birthdays for sure! So head over and check them out you will be glad you did.
