Great Halloween Books from Candlewick

We read nightly in our house and we love finding books that fit the time of year or the holiday. So when Candlewick sent us some Halloween inspired books we couldnt wait to read them. I mean you can never have enough great books right especially holiday ones!
The first book we got was Vampire baby. This book is about a little sister Tootie that goes from cuddly, ga-ga-goo-goo, I-want-my-ba-ba baby to...vampire baby. Now she’s sinking her pointy fangs into everything -- furniture, toys, and especially her big brother ("Youch, Tootie! No bite!"). Mom insists that it’s just a phase, but Tootie’s brother knows better. Just look at her hairline! Or the fact that all her favorite foods are bloodred! This book is such a fun book. My girls love it! I mean it is a different twist on sibling love but it is absolutely adorable!
The next book we got was Filbert, The Good little Fiend. This book is about  a Daddy and Mommy Fiend who want their little Filbert to be gruesome and ghastly, but he won’t trample or terrify, roar or holler. He’d much rather help an old lady with her bags or go bird-watching. What are they to do with him? When Filbert starts school, he quickly learns that good behavior isn’t tolerated in class, and he is banished outside until he can act like a proper little fiend. Suddenly a little angel appears, flying fast and furious until...bump! Could this naughty Angel-School dropout be just the friend Filbert needs? Could they find a way together to make everyone accept them as they are? What a cute book. My kids think it is so funny that being good is bad and bad is good. This is a great book about teaching everyone to love everybody for who they are not what they should be.
The next book we got was Ghost in House. This book is about a little ghost who goes slip-sliding down the hallway, he suddenly hears...a groan! Turns out it’s only a friendly mummy, who shuffles along with the ghost, until they encounter...a monster! As the cautious explorers continue, they find a surprise at every turn -- and add another adorably ghoulish friend to the count. But you’ll never guess who is the scariest creature in the house! This is a great counting book and so much fun this Halloween season. My 5 year old loves it!
The next book we got is perfect for the kids who read chapter books in the house. It is called The Music of Zombies and is the 5th book of the five kingdoms books. It is about a Prince named Albion who expects a unique occasion when he starts planning Cockenzie Rood Day to celebrate his kingdom -- and himself. What he doesn’t expect is boppings on the head and kidnapping, all because a zombie wants to play his fiddle in the talent contest. With a misbehaving path, a romantic bat, and a greedy butler to set them on their way, Gracie Gillypot and Prince Marcus are off on their fifth adventure. It’s up to a Trueheart, a resourceful prince, and Gubble the troll to stop the zombie before he does some giant damage to the Five Kingdoms. This is one of my 11 year olds favorite books to read. She wanted to read the whole book in one sitting. It is a great book!
The Last book was more for my 15 year old since it is alittle more teen content. It is called Feral Nights and is about Yoshi, a sexy, free-spirited werecat, tracts his big sister, Ruby, to Austin, he discovers that she's not only MIA; she's also the key suspect in a murder investigation. Meanwhile, sarcastic werepossum Clyde and his human pal Aimee have set out to do a little detective work of their own, sworn to avenge the brutal killing of a friend. When all three are snared in an underground kidnapping ring, they end up on a remote tropical island ruled by an unusual (even by shape-shifter standards) species. The island harbors a grim secret, and were-predator and were-prey must join forces in a fight to escape alive. Fans of best-selling author Cynthia Leitich Smith's Tantalize quartet will thrill to see favorite sidekick characters-together with all-new ones-take to the fore in this wry, high-action entry in an exciting new series. My daughter loves it and says it is intense and she is so intrigued in to it. It definitely a good read according to my daughter.

So if your looking for some great Halloween books check out these great titles!
